EXPLORING BALI - INDONESIAN SHORES

Updated: May 1, 2023

I spent a week in Bali recently, and every time I hit these Indonesian shores, I know that I will leave wishing I had more time. This visit was no different, but I packed a lot in over a short space! Bali offers something for everyone, and no matter what your budget is, there are luxe experiences and delicious flavors to be found, so here are some tips for things to do and places to be.

In Ubud, Kabana Jungle Club is a whoooooole vibe - I found some afrobeats, some motherland moves, and my yaadie people. Delicious drinks, a beautiful setting, and the absolute best time to be had.

For those more adventurous spirits, check out the Ayung River Rafting packages. Exhilarating rapids, exquisite waterfalls, and exceptional views followed up by 2 hours in a Balinese Spa? Yes. Yes. Yes.

Visit the Aloha Ubud Swing and take in the spectacular views from the heavens. This is not for the faint at heart, swinging out high over the rice paddies below, but it’s my kind of scene… adrenaline hit with a touch of glamor and class.

Urban-style oasis, Komaneka at Rasa Sayang, is the perfect place to rest your head after a long day of adventures, a few cocktails by the pool, or a delicious meal at Madu Manis Kitchen onsite. The rooftop garden villa got me feeling some kinda way, and with gorgeous architectural design, stunning Indonesian art featured throughout, and an in-house spa on the rooftop, you definitely will not want to leave!

Kashantee Village, in the heart of Seminyak, is just 200m from the local beach and offers accommodation with garden views, an outdoor pool, an onsite restaurant, and a relaxed atmosphere that will prep you for big nights out or quiet nights in.

Not far from Kashantee Village is Finn’s Beach club. This world-famous venue is both family-friendly and nightclub fabulous. With an “arrive by 3pm” booking system, you can spend your afternoon sunning yourself on a bed by the pool before an evening partying in the pool. For a more sedate end to your day, sit and watch the tide roll in over cocktails while listening to the resident DJ and vocalists.

Bali is renowned for luxurious spa experiences, and one of my favorites is the ultimate tension relief massage at the Sundari Day Spa. For just a fraction of what you would pay stateside, this Balinese massage is 90 minutes of heaven you should not miss.

After you have relieved all of the tension in your body, it has to be time to shake it all out, and the Kuta Social Club, described as “Bali’s most exclusive rooftop pool club” is the place to be as the sun goes down. With signature cocktails and an infinity pool offering panoramic views, the Kuta Social Club is the perfect place to end your day, and your stay, in the Indonesian paradise of Bali.
