Being at New York Fashion Week for the first time felt like stepping into another world. The energy was electric, with each day bringing new runway shows, unique designer collections, and unforgettable moments. As someone who loves fashion and travels the world, this experience was a perfect blend of creativity, style, and the vibrant energy of New York City.
Let me take you behind the scenes of this whirlwind week, one runway-worthy day at a time.
Day 1: Bold Afro-Chic Vibes & Kicking Off in Style

I kicked off NYFW with a bang, attending the South African Consulate General Press Welcome Mixer—an event introducing South African designers who would later showcase their collections during the week, offering a glimpse into the talent of South African designers like Manthe Ribane, Gugubygugu, and more.
After the mixer, I headed straight to the Art Hearts Fashion Show, where bold, boundary-pushing collections took center stage, like Jesus Delagarsa.
To wrap up the night, I joined fashion insiders and influencers at the Mr. Purple NYC after-party, celebrating all the magic and excitement of Day 1 in true fashion week style. Catch the full recap here to see exactly what went down!
Day 2: Denim Mood & NYC Eats at The Bar Downstairs

For Day 2, I rocked a denim-on-denim look with oversized pearl sunnies and sky-high heels—pure statement vibes. Because, as I always say, fashion is not where you shop, it’s how you put it together. I hit the Art Hearts Fashion Show, where designers like SVLIM and Carlos Pineda left me in awe with their stunning collections, each showcasing bold fashion moments that truly stood out.
Later, I discovered The Bar Downstairs, a hidden gem in the heart of NYC. With its cozy yet sophisticated feel, killer cocktails, and indulgent bites (seriously, the lobster mac n’ cheese is a must-try), it was the perfect escape after a long day of fashion shows. By Day 3, fall fashion was in full force. I paired a cream faux-fur collared coat with killer thigh-high boots—it was all about those chic, cozy vibes.
The day’s highlight? A stunning showcase at the Art Hearts Fashion Show, featuring designers like Mister Triple X and Danny Nguyen Couture. Their collections were daring, full of edgy elegance, and pushed the boundaries of couture. Day 4 was all about fierce energy. I opted for a sleek, all-black leather look—bold, confident, and ready to take on the city. When I saw XcluJohn's models at The Vessel, rocking those all-red designs, I was instantly obsessed. Her work was bold, daring, and unforgettable in every way!
The night wrapped up at the Art Hearts Fashion Show, where Love for Upcycling wowed me with their creative transformation of old wedding dresses. It was hands down one of my favorite looks of the night—honestly, sustainability has never looked this good, and I’m here for all of it! Want a front-row seat to Day 4? Day 5 was a bright moment—literally. I wore a pop of yellow that just hit different, especially in the bright New York streets. But the highlight of the day was attending the Diotima World SS25 collection, which beautifully celebrated Jamaican culture.
The collection was a love letter to Jamaica, blending traditional craftsmanship with high-fashion elements. The designs were artistic, bold, and folkloric, and the atmosphere was charged with pride.
From the sleek ponytails and natural afros to the intricate folkloric knits, every piece felt like a celebration of heritage. The sounds of reggae and dancehall filled the room, making this one of the most vibrant shows of the week. I left feeling so proud of my Jamaican roots and completely inspired by the talent and beauty on display. It was a moment I had to capture for you all—check out my recap of this jaw-dropping day here!
Day 6: Fringe & Cool-Girl Energy to End NYFW

Ending NYFW on a high note, I went full-on cool-girl energy with a fringed skirt and bold accessories. The final day was packed with events, starting with the Yaya DaCosta Wraps N' Raps launch party. Meeting Yaya in person was such a special moment, and her head wrap collection was absolutely stunning—bold, beautiful, and a true celebration of African culture.
Later, I attended Chuks Collins’ SS25 Nné Collection, a heartfelt tribute to motherhood and African heritage. The show was powerful, emotional, and beautifully executed. Each piece blended traditional African textiles with modern silhouettes, creating a collection that was truly one-of-a-kind.
The runway came alive with vibrant colors, intricate details, and a sense of pride that radiated through the room. I was left in awe of the creativity and culture on display.
